Sera James Irvine (b. 1965, Ceunant, Wales) is a Welsh artist based in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.
Working primarily with ink, watercolour, charcoal and soft pastel, her work is characterised by a limited palette of blues, earth tones, and greens and by gestural lines and striking compositions. She is best known for her landscape paintings with recurring motifs of trees, skies, and clouds as well as for contemplative line drawings and monoprints.
Her work captures movement and fleeting moments. Through her paintings and drawings, she explores the point where medium, gesture, subject, and time converge, balancing the immediacy of mark making with profound depth of observation. This is evident in her ongoing series of landscapes inspired by her experiences in Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Namibia.
Sera James Irvine has exhibited widely across the UK, Ireland, and Germany. Her work is held in numerous private collections in the UK, France and Africa.
